The director of Artists’ Breath,
Fram Kitagawa’s Message

Due to the spread of COVID-19, many exhibitions and events have been postponed or cancelled, including the three art Triennales(*1) I am directing, which were originally scheduled for this year. In such times, I wanted to find out how artists are living and what they are thinking.

No artist is the same. This reflects the 7.7 billion people on this earth each having his/her own speech and physiology. Now, 7.7 billion people are living the same moment and sharing a common experience, yet having different thoughts. I am moved and feel a sense of solemnness by this magnificent fact. The aim of this project is to share this diversity. I hope that in this seemingly blank everyday life, this could serve to create a rich platform for artists connected through the sea of life across the world.
