For Holding

Suzu City is located in the center of the Japanese archipelago, at the tip of the Noto Peninsula, jutting out into the Japan Sea. The natural beauty of its satoyama and satoumi has remained to this day. We are blessed with an abundance of good food, and above all, wondeful resident people.
The spread of the novel coronavirus had a major impact on society and economies worldwide, and it was inevitable that the Oku-Noto Triennale postpone for one year. We have been preparing for the Oku-Noto Triennale2020+ in hopes that it will be an opportunity to reconnect divided countries and people. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the citizens for their understanding and support in holding this event.

At the first Oku-Noto Triennale held in 2017, the artists expressed the history, characteristics, charm, and richness of each area in the city. Through their art, they revealed Suzu City’s vast potential, which they previously hadn’t been able to convey. This time, we have been working to have even better results.
Art is powerful. It has the power to touch a person’s heart, the ability to change a community, and the power to connect. We think art will revive some essential things that the pandemic disrupted. Please join us in Suzu to feel art’s power in a place where time flows slowly and peacefully.
